Five projects that made it out of the studio intact — identity systems, printed matter, and one installation that ran for eleven nights.
A ground-up redesign of a quarterly literary review's interior typography and grid — a 9-column system that lets long-form essays and pull quotes argue with each other on the same spread.
Issue 14 was the first to run the new system, printed on a slightly toothy 70lb uncoated stock that made the serif italics feel closer to handwriting.
A risograph zine series built from marginal notes found in secondhand books — underlines, coffee rings, a grocery list tucked into a library copy of Rilke. Four issues, two colors each, bound with a single exposed stitch.
Issue three sold out at Providence Book & Print Fest in forty minutes. The typeface is a modified Cheltenham with the underline weight cranked past what any type designer would sanction.
A wayfinding and signage system for a nine-building artist residency campus, using routed cedar panels and a numbering logic based on the order the buildings were originally constructed rather than their layout.
Residents kept losing the plot with sequential numbering that ignored history, so the final system prints both the build year and the room name — visitors find the year oddly comforting.
A full identity and packaging system for a small-batch ceramics studio throwing tableware in a wood-fired kiln outside Pawtucket. The mark bends with the wobble of a hand-thrown rim instead of sitting on a rigid grid.
Six months of glaze tests and three failed logo marks before the wobble-grid idea landed. The final packaging runs on undyed kraft stock, letterpressed in a single rust ink, with lot numbers stamped by hand at the studio — 340 boxes to a run.
A three-channel projection piece for a group show on coastal erosion, built from tidal timelapse footage shot along Napatree Point and warped through a slow generative displacement map.
Ran for eleven nights at the AS220 project space. The displacement map recalculates every 4 minutes so no two loops of the eleven-minute piece are quite the same.
